THE sixth edition of the Bahrain Food Festival has kicked off at the Bahrain Harbour, featuring more than 120 participating restaurants.
The event, which will run until April 1, was inaugurated last night by Bahrain Tourism and Exhibitions Authority (BTEA) chief executive Dr Nasser Qaedi.
The opening has been synchronised with the Formula 1 race weekend, and a ‘special invitation’ has been extended to racing fans to visit the festival and enjoy its atmosphere.
“We expect that the increase in the number of international Formula 1 tourists, anticipated to be close to 50 per cent compared with 2019, will positively affect the number of visitors to the festival,” the BTEA said in a statement.
The event has been promoted through the ‘What’s On in March’ campaign, alongside the Manama Gold Festival, Brave International Combat Week of Fighting and the concerts at Al Dana amphitheatre. It will feature a ‘Live Cooking Station’ highlighting well-known Bahraini chefs, as well as local musicians and artists. Visitors will also have access to a recreational area as well as a children’s play area. Raffles are also being held throughout the festival, in collaboration with hotels and restaurants around Bahrain.
“BTEA has gone to great lengths to encourage people to come to the festival, and enjoy all or most of the restaurants it hosts, as well as to participate in the different events,” Dr Qaedi added.
“We also want to make this event a must-see for tourists visiting Bahrain at this time of year.”
