CITIZENS and residents have been urged to host majlises and ghabgas outdoors during the Holy Month.
The National Taskforce to Combat Covid-19 also called on people to wear face masks while gathering indoors. Elderly and those with chronic diseases have been requested to avoid ghabgas and Ramadan majlises.
People have also been advised to:
* Use disposable cutlery and avoid sharing food on the same plate.
* Disinfect surfaces periodically, especially in places where the possibility of contact is high, such as door handles, dining tables and seat cushions.
* Periodically sanitise toilets, distribute hand sanitisers and place them in prominent areas.
The task force stressed the importance of continuing to adhere to precautionary measures. It also called upon all members of the public to take both Covid-19 vaccination shots and booster, if eligible.
The country had restricted such gatherings during the last two years amidst the pandemic.
The GDN has reported in the past that a large number of Covid-19 infections sprung from family gatherings, including marriages, funerals and religious meetings among others.
Bahrain is set to mark Ramadan from next week.
