A BAHRAINI family of nine will finally heave a sigh of relief when they return to Bahrain today, ending their agony of being stuck in war-torn Ukraine.
Doctor Al Mundhir Mohammad Khalifa will be flying home with his wife, two children, parents and siblings from Romania where they managed to reach with the help of Bahraini officials.
Dr Khalifa said Bahrain’s embassy in Moscow had been communicating with him on a daily basis to streamline formalities for his return.
Bahrain’s ambassador to Berlin also exerted exceptional efforts to help them leave Ukraine after the war broke out, he said.
Dr Khalifa added that the Foreign Ministry had allocated daily allowances to cover the cost of housing and food since the family moved to Romania, he told our sister paper Akhbar Al Khaleej.
The Interior Ministry also facilitated procedures allowing his wife, who holds Ukrainian nationality, to come to the kingdom, even although she didn’t have a passport due to the war, he added.
“The Interior Minister’s humanitarian and paternal attitude is a source of honour and pride for every Bahraini citizen,” a grateful Dr Khalifa said.
He thanked His Majesty King Hamad, the government, the Foreign Ministry and all the kingdom’s embassies abroad, for ensuring their safe return.
