KEY agreements and diplomatic visits are adding a new momentum to the growing relations between Bahrain and Brazil, His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince, Deputy Supreme Commander and Prime Minister, has said.
He noted the importance of further strengthening these ties, which are anchored by the solid support of both His Majesty King Hamad, the Supreme Commander, and Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro.
HRH Prince Salman was receiving the Special Secretary for Strategic Affairs of the Brazilian Presidency Admiral Flávio Augusto Viana Rocha yesterday.
He commended President Bolsonaro’s commitment to furthering co-operation, to benefit both countries.
The Crown Prince and Prime Minister noted that Bahrain-Brazil relations have been strengthened over the years by agreements, memoranda of understanding (MoUs) and diplomatic visits.
A number of agreements and MoUs were signed in November last year in the presence of His Majesty and President Bolsonaro during the Brazilian leader’s visit to the kingdom.
HRH Prince Salman and Admiral Rocha also discussed latest regional and international developments.
Separately, National Security Adviser and Royal Guard Commander Major General Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa received Admiral Rocha and praised the increasing co-ordination across several areas.
BDF Commander-in-Chief Field Marshal Shaikh Khalifa bin Ahmed Al Khalifa also met the Brazilian official in the presence of BDF Chief of Staff Lieutenant General Dheyab bin Saqr Al Nuaimi.
Bahrain Chamber chairman Sameer Nass highlighted the growing trade volume between Bahrain and Brazil, which exceeded $2.2 billion in 2021, during a meeting with Admiral Rocha, in the presence of chamber’s acting chief executive Dr Abdulla Al Sada.
He briefed the delegation on the business environment in Bahrain and advantages to foreign investors.
Mr Nass also named renewable energy, food security, information and communication technology and tourism as prospective areas of business co-operation.
The chamber also organised meetings between the Brazilian delegation which included companies in the logistics, food and agriculture, industrial, and trade sectors and their local counterparts.
