The news published in the GDN on June 1 covering the Freedom of Religion Conference held in Bahrain was highly appreciated.
The efforts and measures initiated by Bahrain government entities in raising awareness about religious freedom and putting effective laws in place against hate speeches are the need of the hour.
For example, on Friday, May 27, a national spokesperson of the ruling party of India made objectionable comments about Islam and the beloved Prophet Muhammed (PBUH).
Soon social media comments started attacking her and death threats were made which were wrong.
Many communities with multiple religions and ethnicities are living peacefully in the kingdom for ages. I have been living in Bahrain for more than a decade witnessing an atmosphere of universal brotherhood.
I appeal to the Indian authorities to take similar measures in preventing such public hate speeches and to prevail over a legacy of religious tolerance.
