HORSERACING – AL Mohamediya Racing fielded three winners in the 24th meeting of the 2025-26 national horseracing season, which wrapped up late Friday night at Rashid Equestrian and Horseracing Club (REHC) in Sakhir.
Joining Fury, who was the winner of the Future Stars Sprint Leg One, in taking victories for Mohamediya were Aparajeo and Anwaar.
Aparajeo triumphed in the sixth of the evening’s eight-race card, held under lights at REHC. The four-year-old gelding was trained by Mohamed Hasan and ridden by jockey Qasim Jameel.
Aparajeo had a dominant run in the BD3,000 event for imported horses, which covered a 1,200-metre straight. He finished four-and-three-quarter lengths ahead of runner-up Superior, who was competing for Al Afoo Racing, Sayed Jaafar Isa, and Mohammed Jamil.
Ra’s Al Hadd came third for Jawad Abdulwahid Ahmed, Jaffar Radhi, and Ebrahim Nader, while Mearall took fourth for Mohamediya, Fawzi Nass, and Soufiane Saadi.
Meanwhile, Anwaar won the seventh race of the night. Trained by Ali Abdulmajeed, Hasan Al Saffar steered the five-year-old mare to first place across 1,800m to claim the lion’s share of the BD2,000 prize purse.
Three-and-a-half lengths behind in second place was Saher, competing for Shaikh Hamad bin Abdulla bin Isa Al Khalifa, Robert McDowall, and Abdulla Faisal. Aseela finished third for Shaikh Isa bin Abdulla bin Isa Al Khalifa, McDowall, and Diego Lima, while Ashcombe was fourth for Al Adiyat Racing, Daniel and Claire Kubler, and Nader.
As reported in yesterday’s GDN, Nass-trained Fury won with Saadi in the saddle. Also in a Future Stars event, San Diego claimed the Future Stars Champions Leg One for Abdulla Fawzi Nass, Fawzi Nass, and Husain Makki.
Elsewhere, Refreshment claimed the night’s second race for owners Afoo, trainer Jaber Ramadhan, and jockey Abdulla Faisal; Asimov won the very next event for the same Afoo-Ramadhan-Faisal triumvirate; El Introvertido took race eight for Fateel Brothers Syndicate, Adel Abdulla, and Mohammed Jamil; and Al Kray 1966 lifted the Late Hasan bin Saleh Al Rowaiee Cup in the evening’s first race for Al Wasmiya, Abdulla Kuwaiti, and Faisal.
The meeting at REHC marked the resumption of races, without any fans in attendance, following the recent suspension of action due to the unfortunate events currently taking place in the kingdom and the region.
