THE Bahrain Red Crescent Society (BRCS) is attending the 23rd General Assembly meeting of the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC) being held in Geneva until Thursday.
A total of 192 Red Crescent and Red Cross societies from around the world are taking part.
The BRCS delegation is headed by secretary general Mubarak Al Hadi, member of the board of directors Dr Fawzi Amin and youth committee head Dr Nilofar Jahromi.
Kuwaiti Red Crescent Society secretary general Maha Al Barjas was elected as IFRC board of directors vice chairwoman for the Asia and Pacific region, becoming the first Arab woman to hold this position in the history of the federation.
In addition, the Saudi Red Crescent Authority was elected to the IFRC board of directors for the Asia-Pacific region for a new four-year term.
