A LEADING higher education institution in the kingdom, The Royal University for Women (RUW), is thrilled to announce the launch of a new cutting-edge programme, the Bachelor of Science in Digital Media and Interactive Technology.
The programme will commence in September 2022 and admissions are now open for the first semester of the academic year 2022-2023.
Programme co-ordinator Dr Humam Elagha expressed his pride in launching the unique programme that is one-of-a-kind in Bahrain.
It is a commitment by the university to develop the skills needed by the market by providing specialists in Digital Media and Interactive Technologies to Bahrain, the GCC, and international markets, he said.
The four-year programme has 132 credits and is aligned with Bahrain’s National Development Strategy ‘Bahrain Vision 2030’ to equip students with relevant knowledge and expertise as well as to help them acquire the skills of the future.
This unique interdisciplinary initiative incorporates coursework from information technology, creative design, interactive and digital technologies, digital marketing as well as mass communication.
It aims at preparing graduates to fulfil immediate market needs in interactive multimedia, web design and development, mobile app design, digital video, 2D/3D animation, virtual reality, game design, social media, digital marketing, and user experience and interaction.
It also enables students to make a mark for themselves in the digital world and become competent and confident in their chosen fields through well-structured educational courses taught in an excellent learning environment, with the help of international faculty members, world-class computer labs and studio infrastructure.
Careers that graduates can expect to go into after graduation include interactive multimedia designer, web designer and developer, content management system (CMS), user experience and interaction designer (UX/UI), game designer and developer, e-publishing designer, digital journalist, mobile apps designer and developer, 2D/3D animator, 2D/3D virtual reality designer, visual effects and motion graphics designer, digital video producer, social media specialist, digital marketing specialist, e-commerce specialist and much more.

It is worth noting that The Royal University for Women is the first private university in Bahrain to receive Institutional Accreditation from the Higher Education Council.
It is also recognised and recommended by the Education Ministry in Saudi Arabia for its bachelor programmes, by Kuwait for its College of Business and Financial Sciences Bachelor programmes, and by the Higher Education Ministry in Oman for all its offerings.
