DUBAI: The Dubai government has approved AED 44 million worth of new social benefits for citizens with disabilities in the emirate.
According to state news agency WAM, the benefits will be available for those under 60, who have physical or mental impairments and require support from others.
The new benefits approved by Dubai ruler Shaikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al-Maktoum will include fees for kindergartens, schools, university programmes, and training and rehabilitation centres within specialised institutions, as well as the expenses for teachers, caregivers, personal assistants and sign language interpreters.
The benefits also cover devices and technology, the adjustment of vehicles and the cost of equipping the workplace to accommodate people with disabilities.
Dubai hopes to increase the number of people benefitting from the new allowances and is committed to integrating and empowering people of determination, enabling them to be an integral part of Dubai's economic development journey.
