The 31st Premier League season begins today as Crystal Palace face Arsenal. Here are the top things you can look forward to in the 2022-23 season.
Five things to look forward to ahead of the new Premier League season

Star-studded signings
There have been many big signings this season, such as Nunez to Liverpool and Eriksen to Manchester United, but perhaps the most anticipated signing is that of Erling Haaland to Manchester City who is expected to make his Premier League debut against West Ham.

The ten Hag era begins
Coming off their worst Premier League season to date, Erik ten Hag is tasked with the massive job of turning around the Red Devil’s fortunes this season. The Dutchman will be hoping for a positive start in his Premier League debut against Brighton.

Three teams return
Fulham sealed promotion as winners of the English Championship, while Bournemouth qualified from second place. But perhaps the most intriguing return is that of Nottingham Forest. Steve Cooper’s men will play in the Premier League for the first time since the 1998-1999 season.

Chelsea under new ownership
Following the sanction of Roman Abramovich due to his links with Vladimir Putin, Chelsea are now under new owners led by the Todd Boehly-Clearlake Capital consortium. This will be The Blues' first full season since the takeover, and Chelsea fans will be hoping the tradition of success continues without the Russian oligarch behind the scenes.

Five substitutions per game
The Premier League officially announced at the end of March that they will be increasing the number of substitutions allowed per game from three to five. This will allow more rotation options for teams, especially in what is expected to be a hectic season due to the World Cup being held in winter instead of the traditional summer slot.
