A confident female candidate does not believe wearing a face veil will hinder her hopes of winning a parliament seat.
Yusra Al Malood filed her nomination at the Al Mustaqbal Primary Girls School in Riffa in the Southern Governorate Constituency one (Isa Town western part).
The mother-of-five said that women who “are true to themselves” can achieve anything and she hopes to prove the point in the election.
“Women have entered in all fields and proved to be successful,” she told the GDN.
The 56-year-old candidate added: “I am proud of my niqab and wearing it is not an obstacle for me. I will not change who I am.
“I expect a lot of people will vote for me.
“I was a teacher and have a Master’s degree in Politics.
“It is the first time that I have filed my nomination papers and I am excited to be part of this great experience.”
