TWO travellers have embarked on a journey across Bahrain on foot as part of festivities marking the National Day and HM the King’s Accession Day.
Bahraini traveller Ahmed Abdulrahman and Emirati peace adventurer Saeed Al Maamari have crossed 68km.
Their journey took them from Amwaj Islands to the Heritage Village, which is hosting festivities, before heading to Durrat Al Bahrain.
Upon their arrival to the Heritage Village, they extended congratulations to His Majesty King Hamad and His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince and Prime Minister.
Their journey from Amwaj to the Heritage Village lasted 10 hours. They stopped only to pray, eat or have a short pause.
“The participation of Mr Al Maamari reflects solid fraternal relations between Bahrain and the UAE, said Mr Abdulrahman.
Mr Al Maamari said he was delighted to take part in the journey, support by Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Supreme Council for Youth and Sports (SCYS) First Deputy Chairman, General Sports Authority (GSA) chairman and Bahrain Olympic Committee (BOC) president.
“We want through this initiative to communicate the love of the sons of Zayed for the Kingdom of Bahrain, the King, the government and the people,” he said.
