The four police directorates in the kingdom received 229 calls for assistance during the recent heavy rains.
Traffic patrols also dealt with 1,010 incidents involving minor accidents, towing broken-down vehicles stuck in rainwater and organising traffic flows at main intersections and streets.
They monitored traffic and helped facilitate traffic flow.
Meanwhile, the Civil Defence covered 50 reports that included requests for help and support, in addition to dealing with 20 incidents such as electric short circuits and car breakdowns.
Pumps were also used to withdraw rainwater in co-operation and coordination with the Municipalities Affairs and Agriculture Ministry while the Coastguard Command called on seagoers to take caution.
The intense safety strategy which included organising traffic and handling all communications received by the main operations room during the downpour was implemented by all sections of the Interior Ministry including the police directorates in all four governorates, General Directorate of Civil Defence, General Directorate of Traffic and all security departments, as stated on the Interior Ministry’s Twitter account.
The operations room dealt with 112 cases and deployed 117 Najda (rescue) patrols to deal with rain-related cases.
