BAHRAINI surgeon Dr Raed Hameed Al Marzooq couldn’t believe his luck when he was declared winner of the $1 million Ahli United Bank’s (AUB) MyHassad draw 2022.
The 51-year Al Kindi Hospital general surgical consultant was honoured at a gala ceremony held last night at the City Centre Bahrain.
He was accompanied by his wife and colleague Dr Amal Al Rayes, 15-year-old son Khalid, who studies at Naseem International School, and other family members.
“I cannot believe that I have won $1m,” a delighted Dr Al Marzooq told the GDN.
“I will now clear my debts, give money to family members and donate some to charity,” he added.
“The amount will also help my wife and I to pursue higher education. I also have travel plans for my family to a location that will be decided later.”
The medic said some of the money would be put back as savings in AUB.
“I believe that I should invest for the future and AUB is an excellent choice,” he added.
Meanwhile, AUB retail banking deputy group chief executive Suvrat Saigal said it was exciting to have reward schemes that turn people’s lives around.
“We are working to make MyHassad the best savings scheme in Bahrain, it can change lives,” he said.
“The continuation and format of the scheme is dependent on public response and we have made changes to make things bigger and better.”
AUB communications head Mohammed Abu Saqer said the scheme was being expanded so that more people could win rewards.
MyHassad 2023 has a massive prize pool. It features a dream prize of $1 million every two months and monthly draws that include 15 prizes of $25,000, 50 prizes of $1,000 and 50 loyalty prizes of $1,000.
In addition, this year will witness the newly-created category of loyalty prizes to reward the trust and loyalty of MyHassad customers who haven’t won in the past three years.
