Bahrain continues to strengthen its position as a regional centre for business and investment through policies aimed at supporting economic competitiveness and investment, guided by the vision of His Majesty King Hamad and the directives of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince and Prime Minister.
Finance and National Economy Minister Shaikh Salman bin Khalifa Al Khalifa said this as he took part in the 2026 Saint Petersburg International Economic Forum, held in Saint Petersburg, Russian Federation.
Shaikh Salman led Bahrain’s delegation which attended the forum’s main session, during which Russian President Vladimir Putin delivered the keynote address in the presence of heads of state, government officials, and business leaders.
The minister said the forum provides a platform for exchanging views on global economic developments and discussing challenges and opportunities facing international markets amid rapid economic changes, contributing to enhanced co-operation among governments, the private sector, and international financial institutions.
The Bahraini delegation included Industry and Commerce Minister Abdulla bin Adel Fakhro, Bahrain’s Ambassador to Russia Ahmed Al Saati and Bahrain Mumtalakat Holding Company chief executive officer Shaikh Abdulla bin Khalifa Al Khalifa.
On the sidelines of the forum, Shaikh Salman, who is also Mumtalakat chairman, met Russian Minister of Finance Anton Siluanov, Russian Direct Investment Fund CEO Kirill Dmitriev and Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov, and discussed ways to strengthen co-operation and create new opportunities for investment.
