Manama claimed a dominant 3-0 victory over Al Hidd in a 12th-round game of the Nasser Bin Hamad Premier League yesterday.
The victory helped Manama clinch the top spot in the standings with 24 points, one ahead of Muharraq, who play Sitra today in their 12th-round match.
Following a goalless first half, Manama struck six minutes after the interval when Mohammed Al Hallaq was on target after receiving a pass from Ahmed Musa.
Manama stayed in control of the match as they scored the second goal in the 64th minute through Ibrahim Al Khatal.
Mahdi Abduljabbar scored the third goal for Manama from the penalty spot in the 90th minute.
Al Hidd are seventh in the standings with 17 points.
Meanwhile, Amara Bakayoko scored two goals as Al Hala eased past Budaiya 2-0.
Bakayoko scored the opener in the 68th minute with a powerful shot into the net and he helped Al Hala extend the lead by scoring again in additional time.
In another 12th-round match yesterday, Al Khaldiya edged past Al Shabab 1-0 with the help of a header in the 54th-minute by Luiz Fernando.
The 12th-round matches continue today when Riffa take on Bahrain Club and Sitra clash with Muharraq. Both matches kick off at 5.45pm. Later, Al Ahli clash with East Riffa at 8.45pm.
