FOOTBALL – TALENTED Bahraini youngster Talal Mahmoud Riyad continues to excel in his club academy in Spain, having recently been an integral part of two title-winning teams in tournaments featuring sides from all over the world.
Riyad, who was sent by Tumooh Sports Management to the youth academy of La Liga giants Villareal more than three years ago, helped lift his team to winning the crown in a Villareal academies event, while finishing as the competition’s top scorer. The tournament featured 10 academy sides from Mexico, Australia, the Americas, and Spain, among other countries. Riyad’s impressive showing then earned him a selection to Villareal’s under-19 squad for the Villareal Yellow Cup Summer 2025 event, where he also finished as the leading goal scorer. The tournament saw 28 teams from across Spain hit the pitch, including academy sides from Barcelona, Real Madrid, and Valencia, to name a few.
Commenting on his continued excellence at Villareal, Riyad praised His Majesty King Hamad’s humanitarian work and youth affairs representative and Supreme Council for Youth and Sports (SCYS) chairman Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa and SCYS first deputy chairman, General Sports Authority chairman, and Bahrain Olympic Committee president Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa, along with Tumooh Sports Management chairman Mohammed bin Jalal, for the tremendous support he has received.
He added that he is living his dream as a young footballer, which is a national honour as he strives to be the best ambassador for Bahrain.
