BAHRAIN has relaxed measures put in place to combat Covid-19 following a review of the current health situation in the kingdom and the occupancy rates for cases in hospitals and Intensive Care Units.
The updated regulations were announced by Supreme Council for Health chairman and National Taskforce for Combating Coronavirus head Lieutenant General Dr Shaikh Mohammed bin Abdulla Al Khalifa yesterday.
A positive rapid test will be considered the diagnostic tool of choice from today for confirming infections at local health centres, while polymerase chain reaction (PCR) tests can be performed when indicated as per medical evaluation.
Dr Shaikh Mohammed added that the new regulations also stipulate that mandatory self-isolation will no longer be in effect, while advising active
cases to isolate for five days and avoid contact with others.
He stressed the need for all members of society to continue following precautionary guidelines, including taking booster shots of the vaccine and testing when developing any symptoms such as fever, cough, or difficulty in breathing.
Medical experts say that people who are vaccinated may still get Covid-19. However, those who are up-to-date with their booster jabs are much less likely to experience severe symptoms than people who are unvaccinated.
