AHLI United Bank (AUB) has announced the launch of the Global Wallet, a groundbreaking service that enables customers to use their existing ATM card to transact overseas without incurring additional foreign exchange fees.
This does away with the need to carry prepaid foreign currency cards when travelling overseas as the existing ATM card also functions as a foreign currency card.
To use the service, customers have to enable the Global wallet feature through AUB’s Mobile or Internet banking and open foreign currency accounts.
The wallet will automatically route transactions made online, at ATMs and while shopping overseas to the designated currency account.
Users will be able to shop online and abroad using pre-existing cards in four currencies: Bahraini Dinars, US Dollars, Euros, and Pounds Sterling.
The subscription-free service will offer zero per cent conversion rates on all currencies. “We are thrilled to announce the launch of our new Global Wallet feature,” said Suvrat Saigal, deputy group chief executive - retail banking at AUB.
“As a bank that serves customers across multiple countries and regions, we understand the challenges customers face when transacting across borders. The Global Wallet is our solution to these challenges, and we believe it will be a game-changer for our customers.”
The launch was timed to coincide with Eid, as many AUB customers vacation during the holiday, and the new feature can vastly improve their experience.
The three additional currencies enjoy wide circulation, enabling clients to enjoy the feature the world over.
