Five Royal Endurance Team riders will take part in the FEI Endurance World Championship for Young Riders and Juniors in Castelsagrat, France today.
Bahrain’s contenders are Isa Hameed Al Enzi and Abdulla Hassan Al Ruwae of Team Victorious, Jaber Bader Jaffar and Sultan Abdulaziz Al Romaihi of Al Zaim Team and Hamad Ali Hassan of Al Nasr Team.
The team is taking part in the championship on the directions of His Majesty King Hamad’s representative for humanitarian work and youth affairs and Royal Endurance Team Captain Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa.
A total of 70 riders from different countries around the world will compete in the 120 kilometre race.
The participants are from Bahrain, Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Qatar, Tunisia, Argentina, Australia, Belgium, Brazil, China, Finland, Germany, Hungary, India, Italy, Mauritania, Malaysia, Poland, Holland, Norway, Indonesia, Portugal, Spain, Sweden, the USA and France.
The Royal Endurance Team horses have all passed the medical tests which were held at the championship village.
Led by director Dr Khalid Ahmed Hassan, the team riders took part in the opening ceremony, dressed in traditional clothes.
Royal Endurance Team coach Ahmed Jenahi said that riders and horses are ready to take part in the race and achieve honourable results.
The race will be divided into four phases: stage 1 – blue (28.6 km ), stage 2 – red (29.2 km), stage 3 – green (33.8 km) and stage 4 – blue (28.6 km).
