The Indian government’s decision to impose a 20 per cent duty on exports of parboiled rice with immediate effect will not include basmati rice because it is a premium rice, said Bahraini businessman Ibrahim Zainal.
India announced that the export tax will not include rice whose price is more than $1,200 per tonne, meaning it will not include the premium varieties of rice exported to Bahrain and other countries across the world, he pointed out, reports our sister paper Akhbar Al Khaleej .
