Bahrain hasn’t reported any cases of Nipah virus infection and there’s no need to take any exceptional measures as the situation in the kingdom is under control and the virus has become one of the common types of influenza, Supreme Council for Health chairman Lieutenant-General Dr Shaikh Mohammed bin Abdulla Al Khalifa has said.
With confirmed cases of Nipah virus, the South Indian state of Kerala has stepped up control measures to contain the deadly outbreak.
Health Ministry Under-Secretary Dr Waleed Al Manea said that the kingdom is constantly carrying out follow-up operations in accordance with the entry requirements, reported our sister paper Akhbar Al Khaleej.
There is a regular update to the procedures and instructions applied through the kingdom’s ports, in addition to implementing routine procedures that have been taken for more than 20 years related to tests for travellers, he pointed out.
There are no precautionary measures for a specific virus from a specific country, and if any change occurs requiring exceptional measures, the kingdom is prepared for any development that unfolds.
