Members of Bahrain’s Ghanaian expat community participated in a beach clean-up in Malkiya as they look to give back to the country on World Clean-up Day.
Around 60 volunteers from the Ghanaian Community in Bahrain (GCIB) collected 30 bags of rubbish, which included plastic bags and bottles, and other general waste.
GCIB is a non-profit organisation established in 2018 with the aim of providing assistance to Ghanaian citizens living in Bahrain.
Among the participants were community secretary Paa Kwesi Dadzie, treasurer Francis Adjei, data analyser Evans Baffoe, public relations officer Dennis Agykum, and event organiser Collins Oduro.
The community’s first clean-up drive was held in collaboration with Clean-up Bahrain.
Another campaign is being planned for the future, although no dates have been mentioned yet.
The group is also planning other events including a blood donation drive and mental health programmes for members of the Ghanaian community in the country.
