Japan yesterday condemned Monday’s attack on BDF soldiers and expressed its “concern that it could run counter to the ongoing efforts of the political dialogue in Yemen to bring about a permanent peace from the current de-facto ceasefire”.
“The government of Japan expresses its heartfelt condolences to the victims and their bereaved families and prays for the early recovery of the injured,” the statement said.
l The legislative and executive authorities have expressed their appreciation for the efforts exerted by BDF men, who demonstrated the highest levels of sacrifice and cohesion, in fulfillment of the sacred duty, to defend Saudi Arabia’s southern borders.
They affirmed their strong condemnation of the treacherous hostile acts committed by the Houthis, which targeted BDF troops stationed on the southern border of Saudi Arabia, despite the cessation of military operations between the parties to the war in Yemen, failure to adhere thereto, violation of United Nations resolutions, and harming Yemen’s interests in the region, and efforts to achieve sustainable peace.
This came during a joint meeting held at the Parliament yesterday. The two sides stressed that should the Houthis denounce those who carried out this treacherous criminal act, then they must arrest them and hand them over to Bahrain or the Arab Coalition so that the law will take its own course against them.
