A FUNERAL tribute has been paid to a brave Bahraini soldier who succumbed to the injuries he suffered in a terror attack by Houthi forces on Monday.
The death of First Lieutenant Hamad Khalifa Al Kubaisi on Friday took the death toll to four Bahrain Defence Force (BDF) servicemen.
BDF Commander-in-Chief Field Marshal Shaikh Khalifa bin Ahmed Al Khalifa said the four martyrs in the line of duty will always be remembered in the history of Bahrain.
National Security Adviser and Royal Guard Commander Lieutenant General Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa and Royal Guard Special Force Commander Colonel Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa attended the funeral of the fallen serviceman.
First Lieutenant Mubarak Al Kubaisi and Private First Class Yaqoub Mohammed were buried in Bahrain on Tuesday while First Warrant Officer Adam Salem Naseeb was buried on Thursday.
BDF forces were stationed on the southern borders of Saudi Arabia as part of the Arab Coalition forces participating in Operation Decisive Storm and Operation Restoring Hope when they came under the drone attack, despite a truce in hostilities being agreed.
The BDF Commander-in-Chief earlier received the body of First Lieutenant Hamad Al Kubaisi yesterday.
Defence Minister Lieutenant General Abdulla Al Nuaimi, BDF Chief of Staff Lieutenant General Theyab bin Saqr Al Nuaimi, senior officers and family members of the fallen serviceman were present.
The body arrived on board a Royal Bahraini Air Force military aircraft at the Isa Air Base, where a military ceremony was conducted.
Field Marshal Shaikh Khalifa said these valiant, heroic fallen servicemen, through their noble sacrifices, have attained the highest ranks of honour.
“We appreciate the servicemen of the BDF for joining their fellow servicemen in the Arab Coalition to Support Legitimacy in Yemen, as part of Operation Decisive Storm and Restoring Hope,” he added.
The Commander-in-Chief prayed to Allah the Almighty to rest the soul of the fallen servicemen Hamad Al Kubaisi in eternal peace and to bless his relatives with patience and fortitude. He wished the injured a speedy recovery.
The Commander-in-Chief extended the condolences of His Majesty King Hamad, the Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces; His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince, Deputy Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces and Prime Minister, to the family.
The UN Security Council on Friday strongly denounced the drone attack, describing it as a serious threat to the peace process and regional stability, especially in Yemen. The Council called on the Houthis to end their terrorist attacks, especially the targeting of the infrastructure in cities near the Saudi borders.
Council members stressed the need to take concrete steps towards achieving a permanent ceasefire and expressed their support for achieving a political solution in Yemen to end the sufferings of Yemenis.
