MPs yesterday called on the government to severe ties with Israel over its blatant inhumane attacks on the Gaza Strip that has led to thousands being killed or injured, and widespread devastation.
They also called for Bahrain to call back the ambassador in Tel Aviv, while declaring the Israeli Ambassador in Bahrain as a persona non grata.
The call was made during the weekly session yesterday chaired by acting speaker Ahmed Qarata, who praised His Majesty King Hamad’s support initiatives for the Palestinians in his opening speech.
“The leadership and people in Bahrain have been backing the Palestinians all the way since the Israeli aggression, attack and genocide,” said Parliament’s services committee Mohammed Al Hussaini.
“Israel has disregarded all international norms and have lost all humanity,” he said.
“For that we are calling Bahrain to bring back our ambassador in Tel Aviv.”
Also commenting, MP Mohammed Al Olaiwi suggested an extraordinary session in support of Palestine.
“Before we hold the symbolic session, Bahrain has to severe ties with this Zionist enemy.”
Parliament public utilities and environment affairs committee vice-chairman Mohammed Al Bulooshi, who spoke in Hebrew and then offered a translation in Arabic, asked the Israeli Ambassador not to come back.
MPs voted unanimously to issue a statement praising the King’s humanitarian moves in support of the Palestinians.
They deputised Mr Qarata to issue it on their behalf.
