Oil and Environment Minister and Special Envoy for Climate Affairs Dr Mohammed Bin Daina yesterday took part in the launch of EARTH platform.
It was launched by UAE Minister of Energy and Infrastructure Suhail bin Mohammed Al Mazrouei during the 2023 United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP28) in Dubai.
The EARTH Platform which will serve as a powerful tool in advancing five critical domains: economy, adaptation, reduction, transition and health. Its primary objective is to enable a comprehensive assessment and monitoring of net-zero activities through a UAE-wide integrated digital dashboard.
It leverages advanced technologies, including AI and Big Data, to run comprehensive analysis of the data to expedite the decision-making process.
Dr Bin Daina praised the UAE’s initiatives in employing digital transformation to serve climate action, enhancing its capabilities in collecting and analysing green economy and adapting to the repercussions of climate change as well as reducing emissions.
He noted the importance of benefiting from the exchange of experiences and expertise, to support accurate and scientific decision-making based on facts and figures, enhancing the methodology for preparing strategic plans in the field of climate security and environmental action.
Dr Bin Daina separately visited Saudi Arabia’s exhibition at the COP28.
He commended the Bahrain-Saudi Arabia relations in various sectors, including environment and climate action. He affirmed the importance of developing co-operation between the two countries in the environment field to achieve Sustainable Development Goals and climate security.

He praised the Saudi Green Initiative Exhibition, which highlighted initiatives and projects underway in Saudi Arabia to build a more sustainable future for all.
The minister also visited Qatar’s pavilion in the exhibition. Qatar’s Minister of Environment and Climate Change Shaikh Dr Faleh bin Nasser bin Ahmed bin Ali Al Thani was present.
Dr Bin Daina was briefed on Qatar’s environmental efforts, climate change efforts, and the use of modern technology.
