The industrial sector is a crucial partner in Bahrain’s overall development and reflects its standing on both regional and global scale, it has been declared.
Isa Bin Salman Education Charitable Trust board of trustees chairman and Labour Fund (Tamkeen) board of directors chairman Shaikh Isa bin Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa also emphasised the kingdom’s commitment to further develop the sector as he attended the 60th anniversary celebrations of the Bahrain Ship Repairing & Engineering Company (Basrec) at Gulf Hotel Convention Centre yesterday.
The ceremony was held under the patronage of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince and Prime Minister.
Shaikh Isa highlighted the unwavering support provided by His Majesty King Hamad and HRH Prince Salman to the industrial sector.
He noted its importance in furthering economic diversification efforts, in line with the Bahrain Economic Vision 2030.
Shaikh Isa outlined the progress witnessed by the sector, attributing it to the efforts of the skilled Bahraini workforce.
He extended his congratulations to the employees of Basrec, noting their wide-ranging achievements over the past 60 years and wished them success in their future endeavours.
As part of the celebration, Basrec revealed its new logo and branding, symbolising a refreshed and forward-looking identity.
Additionally, the company showcased its new floating dock, which has double the capacity of the previous one, underscoring the company’s commitment to supporting its partners’ growth plans and enhancing its service capabilities.
Board chairman Fawzi Kanoo said the historic moment represented a source of pride and honour for every member of the company’s family and everyone who contributed to building this pioneering entity in the field of ship repairing and engineering.
“Our journey began six decades ago, full of challenges, but thanks to the diligent and sincere efforts of our team, we have achieved many accomplishments and have become one of the prominent names in this field at the regional level,” he pointed out.
The event brought together industry leaders, government officials, and guests to commemorate Basrec’s six decades of excellence in the marine and engineering sectors.
