Imran Khan, an Indian expat, donated a portion of his liver to his four-year-old daughter Razia who was suffering from a rare genetic condition.
The 12-hour successful surgery, which is UAE's first living-donor paediatric liver transplant, was performed at Burjeel Medical City (BMC), Abu Dhabi.
Razia was diagnosed with a rare genetic liver condition called progressive familial intrahepatic cholestasis type 3 (PFIC), the same condition that took the life of her older sister three years ago.
