The Pakistani community in Bahrain marked their country’s 78th Independence Day.
Ambassador Saqib Rauf led a flag-raising ceremony at the embassy, attended by community members, businessmen and other dignitaries. A cake-cutting ceremony was also held.
“On this auspicious occasion of the 78th Independence Day of Pakistan, I extend my heartfelt felicitations to the people of Pakistan living in Bahrain,” said Mr Rauf. “On this day, let us pledge to do our utmost to strengthen the bonds of friendship and brotherhood between Pakistan and Bahrain.”
Pakistani Women’s Association board members also attended the ceremony.
Meanwhile, Pakistan Club held a flag-raising ceremony at its premises that was attended by around 170 community members. MP Abdulwaheed Qarrata was the chief guest who was welcomed by club chairman Mohammed Afzal Bhatti. Refreshments were provided at the end of the celebration.
