Bahrain’s state-owned Bapco Energies plans to import heavier crude after the expansion of its 267,000 barrel-per-day (bpd) refinery to 380,000 bpd, Zawya has reported citing the company’s senior vice-president for business development and international and government relations.
The island nation gets about 220,000 bpd of oil from Saudi Arabia through a pipeline and uses 40,000 bpd of its local production for the refinery, Shaikh Ebrahim bin Khalid Al Khalifa told the Asia Pacific Petroleum Conference (APPEC) .
