A WELL-KNOWN former Bahrain resident has died in a house demolition disaster, revealed heartbroken family members still living in the kingdom.
James Samuel Jatanna and his cousin, Harry, were crushed to death following the collapse of a rooftop. The tragedy happened in their hometown of Mangalore.
The 56-year-old worked as an accountant for Aradous Contracting and Maintenance Company in Bahrain for a decade before leaving to Abu Dhabi in 2022 and returning back home in March of this year.
“The family’s old home was being bulldozed by a crane so construction work could begin on a new one,” a relative, who asked not to be named, told the GDN. “It appears a driver knocked down the pillars leading to the collapse of the rooftop on James and Harry.
“James was well-known in Bahrain through his involvement with many charitable, social and cultural events and activities during his time here. He was much loved by the community. What happened was a tragedy, knowing that James was saving throughout his career so as to build his dream family home.”
Mr Jatanna, who is survived by his wife and daughter, was buried alongside his cousin in Gorigudda Cemetery on Friday.
