A beloved fluffy tortoiseshell cat - Rosie, believed to be the world's oldest, has passed away at her home in Norwich, UK, with her proud owner Lila Brissett, 73, by her side.
Born in 1991, Rosie turned 33 on June 1, which is equivalent to an astonishing 152 human years!
Lila adopted her kitten in the 90s when it needed rehoming due to allergies in its first home. Lila happily welcomed Rosie into her family, which already included a rescued abused cat and a stray dog.
Rosie was "quite a character," her owner exclaimed. She lived off Purina cat food daily, and if she didn't have her preferred meal, "she'd kick up a fuss."
Rosie's mother was a grey ragdoll cat, which is evident in her fluffy squirrel-like tail. Her father on the other hand is believed to be a ginger tom, as perceived with Rosie's auburn hues.
Although Lila knew Rosie's condition was not looking good recently and had to frequently check if her beloved was still breathing, she said she would never "have her put down."
When the day came, Rosie passed away peacefully in the hallway with Lila by her side, who expressed, "I miss her so much... She wasn't very well, and one day she just walked into the hallway of the house, laid down, and passed away."
A heartbroken Lila added, "There were lots of good memories though, and I'm happy we had our time together."
Reflecting back on their time, she said Rosie's favourite moments were, of course, eating and sleeping, and as she grew older, she loved to nap on the windowsill of their home.
She added that in her final years, she became a house cat, "all she does is eat, sleep, use the litter tray, and repeat."
