BASKETBALL – THE Bahrain Basketball Association (BBA) will hold its regular general assembly tonight, during which Alaa Mudara will be endorsed as the new BBA president, the BBA announced yesterday.
Mudara is the lone candidate running for the position – which will be held for the next four years, through to 2028 – to succeed current BBA boss Captain Waleed Al Alawi, who has decided not to run for a new term.
Also during the general assembly, which will be held at InterContinental Bahrain from 7pm, the new board of directors will be determined.
There are currently nine nominees for the eight seats. They include Hassan Ali Yaseen from Samaheej, Ahmed Abdulrahman Kaldari and Nader Jalal Al Awadhi from Al Hala, Noor Abdulredha Hussain from Manama, Ghazi Faisal Mansour from Al Ahli, Salman Abdulhussain Al Hubail from Sitra, Mohammed Abdulsamad Elyas from Muharraq, Ahmed Khalifa Khalfan from Al Najma, and Hassan Mahmoud Ajaj from Isa Town.
The BBA has officially invited its member clubs under its umbrella to attend the general assembly, which will be held in the presence of representatives from the General Sports Authority.
