DUATHLON – Bahrain's star triathlete Moussa Karich has secured a place in the individual men’s duathlon competition of the 2025 Chengdu World Games, to be held in China later this year.
Karich clinched his spot after winning the 2025 Asia Triathlon Duathlon Championships in the kingdom on Saturday.
It was the second time Karich stepped onto the podium in the prestigious continental event, and his first gold.
“Very pleased to finally take the overall win and claim my first Asian continental title,” Karich told the GDN. “The last 18 months have been very intense and had plenty of ups and downs, so I am very satisfied with my performance and to officially qualify for the World Games in China later this year.”
The 2025 Chengdu World Games are set to be held from August 7 to 17. It will feature 34 sports, comprising 60 disciplines and 253 medal events. These are sports that are not contested in the Olympics.
Duathlon will feature three events, including the individual men, individual women, and 2x2 mixed relay.
Karich will be competing over a five-km run, a 30km bike ride, and another five-km run in his race.
Prior to clinching the Asian title on Saturday, he had previously won the elite men’s silver medal in the 2023 edition of the Asia Triathlon Duathlon Championships, which was held at New Clark City in the Philippines.
