BASKETBALL – The Bahrain Basketball Association (BBA) announced yesterday that it has dismissed the technical and administrative staff of the kingdom’s senior men’s basketball national team.
This is part of the ongoing evaluation of the Bahraini side, and it follows the team’s failure to qualify for the Fiba Asia Cup 2025 in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia this August.
The BBA said in a statement that the decision stems from its commitment to setting developed goals and plans aimed at enhancing the national team’s performance and achieving the desired results during upcoming competitions, in line with the visions and aspirations of the sports leadership, the BBA board, and the fans.
The BBA extended its sincere thanks and appreciation to the members of the national team’s technical and administrative staff and all those who previously worked with the kingdom’s internationals for their great efforts during this period.
The BBA pledges to continue its tireless efforts and full commitment to supporting the senior men’s national team and to strive to achieve the desired development in the next phase.
The Bahrainis were being led by Lebanese head coach Jad El Hajj. He helped guide Bahrain to their historic, first-ever title in the Gulf Basketball Association Championship for National Teams 2024.
The nationals were one win away from securing a place in this year’s Fiba Asia Cup on multiple occasions but came up short each time.
