His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince and Prime Minister, highlighted the ever-growing global interest in Formula 1 as well as the increasing fanbase during his visit to the Bahrain International Circuit’s paddock yesterday.
He arrived on the sidelines of the third Formula 1 practice session of the F1 Gulf Air Bahrain Grand Prix, and took a tour of the paddock, stopping to chat with top F1 names like Lawrence Stroll and Toto Wolff.
HRH Prince Salman highlighted the kingdom’s continued success in hosting major international sports events, reflecting the tireless efforts of the national workforce.
These efforts have positioned Bahrain as a hub for significant sporting competitions, particularly motorsports, in alignment with the kingdom’s comprehensive development, led by His Majesty King Hamad, he said.
He reiterated Bahrain’s commitment to strengthening motorsports and expanding investment opportunities within the growing sector.
HRH the Crown Prince and Prime Minister emphasised that Bahrain’s success in hosting and organising international championships and prestigious events is testament to the dedicated efforts of Bahrain’s workforce, who contribute strongly across various fields.
“I’d like to welcome all the Formula 1 fans,” he separately told Radio Bahrain.
“It’s a wonderful time of the year. As always, we are thrilled to have this event here and we hope it is a great success for everybody.
“It’s always busy, and thankfully, the success of Formula 1 is global now, and we are lucky to have it, so my advice is to come and get your tickets early for next year!”
HRH Prince Salman was accompanied on the tour by former Ferrari chairman Luca di Montezemolo, as well as Finance and National Economy Minister Shaikh Salman bin Khalifa Al Khalifa, Industry and Commerce Minister Abdulla bin Adel Fakhro and other key dignitaries.
He later visited each of the teams’ garages to welcome team personnel to the kingdom.
“We are very honoured to have all the Formula 1 family here and I look forward to a very successful race,” he added.
