United Nations Assistant Secretary General and United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) director of the Regional Bureau for Arab States Abdullah Al Dardari will begin a three-day visit to Bahrain today.
The visit marks a significant step in deepening the kingdom’s development partnership with the UN. It comes as Bahrain and the UNDP embark on a new phase of co-operation with the official launch of the Bahrain Country Programme Document (2025-2026), which was approved by the UNDP executive board in January.
The new Country Programme outlines a roadmap to support Bahrain’s national priorities, focusing on inclusive and diversified economic growth, strengthening governance and human rights institutions, as well as advancing environmental sustainability and climate action.
Mr Al Dardari will discuss with senior government officials, civil society leaders and development partners ways of boosting collaboration regarding issues of priority, including entrepreneurship, climate change, and data-driven policymaking.
