HORSERACING – ISA Bin Salman Educational Charitable Trust chairman, Labour Fund (Tamkeen) chairman and Rashid Equestrian and Horseracing Club (REHC) chairman Shaikh Isa bin Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa has praised Bahrain’s leading position in regional and international horseracing.
He affirmed that Bahrain’s achievements in the field are a result of the support of His Majesty King Hamad and the directives of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince and Prime Minister.
Shaikh Isa was speaking at the closing ceremony of the 2024-25 horseracing season, organised by the REHC at the Four Seasons Hotel Bahrain Bay.
The ceremony was attended by Supreme Council for Environment vice president and REHC deputy chairman Shaikh Faisal bin Rashid Al Khalifa, other dignitaries, officials and representatives of the race sponsors.
Shaikh Isa expressed pride in the sincere and tireless efforts of all those working in the horseracing sector and the supporting regulatory bodies, which contributed to the significant progress witnessed during the season. He noted that efforts are underway to develop local races and ensure the success of international championships and events, supported by Bahrain’s attractive environment and highly skilled national workforce. He added that these factors enhance the kingdom’s competitiveness as a leading sporting destination regionally and internationally.
He emphasised that Bahrainis continue to be a source of pride for the progress they achieve in the horseracing sector. He commended the contributions of sponsors in supporting development efforts and the implementation of various ambitious projects aimed at realising the vision of making the REHC an integrated sports centre. He also highlighted the commitment to further developing strategic partnerships with all institutions to achieve continued milestones in Bahrain’s horseracing sector.
Shaikh Isa presented the Leading Owner Award to the representatives of Al Mohamediya Racing Stable, Shaikh Nader bin Mohammad bin Salman Al Khalifa and Shaikh Ali bin Mohammad bin Salman Al Khalifa. He also presented the Leading Trainer Award to Allen Smith, which was received on his behalf by assistant trainer Paul Smith. The Best Jockey Award was presented to Ibrahim Nader, and the Best Apprentice Jockey Award to Hussein Asghar. He congratulated the winners and wished all participants continued success in the upcoming season.
