MOTORSPORT – BAHRAINI-British GT team 2 Seas Motorsport had mixed results yesterday in the fifth round of the 2025 British GT Championship.
The meeting took place at Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps in Belgium – marking the only stop outside the UK in this British GT season.
The 2 Seas tandem of Charles Dawson and Kiern Jewiss in their #42 Mercedes-AMG GT3 Evo finished a solid sixth at the end of the three-hour endurance race, while the duo of teammates Kevin Tse and Maximilian Goetz in their #18 Mercedes-AMG GT3 Evo faced some brake issues in their car but were able to bring it home in 18th place.
With those results, 2 Seas maintained their lead in the GT3 teams’ championship battle while Dawson and Jewiss stayed atop the drivers’ season standings.
Dawson and Jewiss had qualified on the third row in sixth for yesterday’s event, and did enough to maintain that position on the final classification. They registered a total of 71 laps while finishing one minute 14.536 seconds behind winners Giacomo Petrobelli and Jonathan Adam of Blackthorn, driving their Aston Martin Vantage AMR GT3 Evo.
Morgan Tillbrook and Marvin Kirchhofer of Optimum Motorsport were second overall in their #77 McLaren 720S GT3 Evo, while Robert Collard and Hugo Cook of Barwell Motorsport came third in their #1 Lamborghini Huracan GT3 Evo2. Tillbrook and Kirchhofer were 25.084s from the winners, while Collard and Cook finished 38.426s from first place.
Meanwhile, Tse and Goetz qualified with a strong fourth in row two on the grid for yesterday’s challenge, but their issues dropped them out of contention. 2 Seas’ crew, however, were able to get their car back out onto the track to take the chequered flag, albeit with a nine-lap gap.
Both 2 Seas contenders were competing in the British GT’s GT3 class.
Each of the 2 Seas pairings have already tasted victory this campaign. Dawson and Jewiss took the GT3 triumph in the season-opener at Donington Park, and then Tse and Goetz followed suit with their GT3 win in round four at Oulton Park.
2 Seas are competing this British GT campaign hoping to repeat their title-winning success in the GT3 teams’ championship from 2023. They enjoyed a solid campaign last year, which saw them claim two race wins and a pole position.
The 2025 calendar features nine rounds in all, to be held across six meetings. Following Spa, the championship heads back to the UK for this campaign’s final four rounds.
Snetterton will host rounds six and seven from July 11 to 13, round eight will be at Brands Hatch on August 23 and 24, and then the ninth and final round will be again at Donington Park on October 4 and 5.
