A HIGH-LEVEL Bahraini delegation, led by His Majesty King Hamad’s representative for humanitarian work and youth affairs Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, has concluded a highly successful participation at the St Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF) 2025, reaffirming the kingdom’s commitment to strengthening ties with the Russian Federation.
Shaikh Nasser delivered a keynote speech and joined a high-profile panel discussion with Russian President Vladimir Putin and other global leaders, where he outlined Bahrain’s approach to economic development.
Bahrain’s role as guest country at the 28th SPIEF marked a significant milestone, witnessing the signing of six memoranda of understanding (MoUs) to deepen co-operation across various sectors.
Key agreements include MoUs on customs, fuel and energy technologies, media and IT, tourism, and a co-operation agreement between the Russian Export Centre and Export Bahrain.
The kingdom showcased its dynamic economic landscape and forward-looking policies, highlighting collaboration opportunities. Bilateral meetings with Russian counterparts explored avenues for investment growth and trade expansion, underscoring Bahrain’s strategic intent to serve as a gateway for Russian investment into the GCC and broader Middle East.
Bahraini representatives also participated in high-level panel discussions. Oil and Environment Minister and Special Envoy for Climate Affairs Dr Mohammed Bin Daina addressed the ‘Global Energy Market’ panel, focusing on Bahrain’s efforts in maintaining a sustainable energy mix.
Industry and Commerce Minister Abdulla bin Adel Fakhro spoke on ‘The Role of SMEs in Achieving New National Goals,’ emphasising Bahrain’s commitment to fostering a resilient SME sector and strengthening economic ties with Russia.
Mr Fakhro also participated in the ‘Russia-Bahrain Business Dialogue’ alongside Bahrain Tourism and Exhibitions Authority chief executive Sara Buhejji.
Ms Buhejji further contributed to a panel on ‘Professionals for Tourism and Hospitality,’ highlighting Bahrain’s focus on human capital development in these sectors.
Additionally, Bahrain Authority for Culture and Antiquities president Shaikh Khalifa bin Ahmed Al Khalifa participated in a panel exploring the importance of cultural identity and heritage.
