BASKETBALL – BAHRAIN’S 3x3 men’s basketball national team have risen to 73rd amongst basketball federations on the latest edition of the Fiba 3x3 World Ranking.
The list has been released by the International Basketball Federation (Fiba), worldwide basketball’s governing body. Bahrain are 73rd in the world and 17th in Asia with 80,568 ranking points. They climbed from 157th to their new position in just three months, according to a top official.
Serbia are the top men’s squad with 12,235,327 points, followed by the US on 8,242,061 points. The Netherlands (6,248,278) are third, France (5,836,291) fourth, and Lithuania (5,725,417) fifth.
Mongolia are the top team in Asia, ranked 10th overall with 2,995,082 points. China (2,978,117) and Japan (1,623,442) follow in second and third, respectively, in the continent.
In the 3x3 women’s national teams ranking, Bahrain are 89th in the world and 22nd in Asia with 6,492 points. The Netherlands are the top women’s team internationally with 1,318,118 points, while China are second in the world and best-ranked in Asia with 1,271,034 markers.
Amongst the youth men’s national teams, Bahrain are 117th in the world and 29th in Asia with 6,968 points. Germany are top with 2,377,873 points, while Mongolia are leading in Asia with 1,047,323 points. Amongst the youth women’s squads, Bahrain are 87th in the world and 25th in Asia with 4,144 points. China are top worldwide as well as in Asia with 1,031,161 points.
Meanwhile, Bahrain’s representatives on the Fiba 3x3 World Tour, Riffa, are ranked eighth overall in the teams’ ranking. Riffa feature the quintet of Dennis Donkor, Jonas Foerts, Caspar Augustijnen, Vic Van Oosterwyck, and Bahraini Mohammed Kowayed. They are on 2,108,348 points.
Ub from Serbia are currently in first place with 3,076,916 points, followed by Toulouse (2,675,454) from France and Miami (2,657,574) from the US.
