Supreme Council for Youth and Sports first deputy chairman, General Sports Authority chairman, and Bahrain Olympic Committee (BOC) president Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa chaired yesterday the sixth meeting of the BOC’s board of directors.
Shaikh Khalid praised the achievements of national sports federations in the first half of 2025 and reviewed the kingdom’s preparations to host the third Asian Youth Games this October.
A report on Bahrain’s international participations in 2025-26 was also discussed, while Shaikh Khalid and the BOC board were briefed on the measures taken by the BOC in preparation to compete in the Los Angeles 2028 Olympics.
Shaikh Khalid stressed the importance of qualifying athletes and striving to nurture champions in order to bag more medals in the next edition of the Olympiad.
Shaikh Khalid was informed on the latest developments in establishing a new centre of excellence for aquatic sports in the kingdom, which is in partnership with GFH Financial Group and Bahrain Aquatics.
The results of Bahrain’s hosting the Fiba Mid-Term Congress and the Fiba Hall of Fame induction ceremony in May were also reviewed.
A number of other issues were also tackled during the gathering, including the BOC’s preparations to host a meeting of the Court of Arbitration for Sport in Bahrain, which will take place from November 10 to 14.
