WEIGHTLIFTING – BAHRAIN Weightlifting Federation (BWF) president Eshaq Ebrahim Eshaq has been appointed to the International Weightlifting Federation (IWF) executive board, it was announced yesterday.
Eshaq’s appointment is a new international achievement for the BWF and a confirmation of his outstanding capabilities.
Eshaq becomes the first Bahraini to hold this position in the history of the IWF, which is celebrating its 120th anniversary this year.
This appointment is a recognition of the significant efforts made by Eshaq in supporting and developing the sport of weightlifting, alongside his active and continuous presence in international and continental events. It reflects his expertise and strong relationships with various leaders in the sport.
On this occasion, Eshaq expressed his pride in this international achievement, which he considers a major gain for Bahraini, Arab and Asian sports.
He emphasised that this victory is the result of the continuous support of His Majesty King Hamad and of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince and Prime Minister, as well as to the attention of His Majesty’s humanitarian work and youth affairs representative and Supreme Council for Youth and Sports (SCYS) chairman Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa and of SCYS first deputy chairman, General Sports Authority chairman, and Bahrain Olympic Committee president Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa.
Eshaq also extended his sincere thanks to the IWF president and its members for their great trust, which serves as a strong motivator for him to continue working towards the continuous development of the sport of weightlifting.
