Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov arrived in North Korea yesterday, Russian news agencies reported.
Lavrov’s visit includes talks with his North Korean counterpart.
Following his trip to North Korea, Lavrov is expected to travel to China to attend the Shanghai Co-operation Organisation meeting, which is set to take place on July 14-15.
Meanwhile, Ukraine’s military said yesterday that its drones struck a Russian aviation plant in the Moscow region and a missile production facility in the Tula region.
In a statement on the Telegram app, the military said that the overnight attack caused explosions and a fire at the aviation plant, and also explosions and smoke rising over the industrial zone at the other site were registered.
The US has resumed military supplies to Ukraine and senior officials in Kyiv will work on military co-operation next week with Washington’s special envoy Keith Kellogg, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy said yesterday.
Zelenskiy, speaking in his nightly video address, also set out a long list of areas in Ukraine, where the military is facing challenges in resisting the slow advance of Russian forces in the 40-month-old war.
Zelenskiy restated that Ukraine had received high-level signals from Washington and its other Western allies that arms supplies, paused for a time last week, had now resumed.
“According to all reports, deliveries have resumed. We are currently working with partners on new supplies, increased weapons production in Ukraine and better support for our army,” he said.
“Next week, we will continue working with the US side on a military level, including between our military and General Kellogg. We are also preparing new European defence packages. We expect strong sanctions soon, including sanctions against Russia for this war. The pressure must work.”
