TENNIS legend Billie Jean King has praised Bahrain for hosting the Asia/Oceania group of the Billie Jean King Cup over the past two years.
This came during a meeting between Bahrain Tennis Federation president Shaikh Abdulaziz bin Mubarak Al Khalifa and King, during which they discussed the positive impact of hosting the tournament in promoting tennis in the region.
The American former women’s world number one also emphasised that holding such tournaments contributes to strengthening ties between Asian countries and gives players the opportunity to compete at a high level.
For his part, Shaikh Abdulaziz expressed his pride in the kingdom’s hosting of their Billie Jean King Cup Asia/Oceania group. He noted that it reflects the vision of Bahrain’s wise leadership in supporting sports.
Shaikh Abdulaziz affirmed that the kingdom will continue to host important sporting events, particularly in tennis, to further enhance Bahrain’s position as a regional tennis hub.
