In 1991, Bahrain won the overall trophy at the GCC Swimming Championships.
In 2025, we did it again.
After 34 years, we brought the title back home. But this story isn’t just about a trophy; it’s about passion, purpose and the power of youth.
This year was the first time in 13 years that the GCC Championships returned to Bahrain. And with only one month to prepare, we took on the challenge, not just to host, but to make history.
It was our first competition as the new Bahrain Aquatics Federation board – the youngest national federation board in the country. A team fuelled by energy, creativity and relentless commitment.
For the first time since 1975, the championships saw the introduction of the Mixed Relay Event, a symbolic and powerful moment for inclusivity and unity in the region.
Both Bahrain and Saudi Arabia stood side by side, diving into a new chapter for Gulf aquatics.
Because this is only the beginning. And every great beginning needs people who dare to start.
Special mentions to:
Salman Fulad, CTP – Who adapted to every challenge without hesitation. Your tireless work ethic and calm under pressure were the glue that held us together.
Fatema Almahmeed – The ‘Silent Iron Lady’. Always behind the scenes, never seeking the spotlight, yet carrying mountains on your shoulders with grace. Your strength is unmatched.
Farhan Saleh Farhan – The man of 50 calls a day, every day, without a single complaint. He reminded us all that leadership isn’t loud, sometimes it’s a warm laugh and the belief that we’ll get it done, no matter what.
We didn’t do this for the applause. We did it to show what’s possible when the youth are empowered.
We’re here to have fun, to lead with integrity, and to show what the next generation is capable of.
This is only the start.
Big things have small beginnings.
And Bahrain Aquatics is just getting warmed up.
