BASKETBALL – BAHRAIN representatives Seef and Riffa both suffered early exits yesterday in separate events on the 2025 Fiba 3x3 World Tour.
Making their historic debut in a Masters competition in Hong Kong, Seef lost to both Toulouse from France and Skyliners from Germany to finish their preliminary round campaign in Pool B in last place, ending their first appearance at the top-tier level of street basketball’s premier series under the International Basketball Federation (Fiba).
Riffa, on the other hand, fell to both Valencia from Spain and NY Harlem from the US to finish last in Pool C at the Pristina Challenger in Kosovo. The meeting was a lower-tier event on this year’s Fiba 3x3 World Tour, and it acted as a qualifier for next month’s Lausanne Masters in Switzerland.
Seef were competing with a quartet of Sayed Mohammed Hameed, Sadeq Shukrallah, Hasan Fahad, and Bogdan Dragovic, who was taking the place of Nasser Al Mosawi. They bowed to Toulouse 13-21 in their opening assignment and then lost to Skyliners 12-19 in their next. Both of their opponents advanced to the tournament’s quarter-finals.
It was Seef’s first-ever participation in a Masters competition on the Fiba 3x3 World Tour, in which they are marking their debut this season.
In Pristina, Riffa struggled in a 9-14 loss to Valencia with their foursome of Dennis Donkor, Vic Van Oosterwyck, Andrej Cuyvers, and Mohammed Kowayed. They tried to bounce back against NY Harlem but narrowly lost 18-21.
Valencia and NY Harlem move on to the last eight.
The Fiba 3x3 World Tour 2025 will be heading to Bahrain later this year for the season-finale, scheduled to take place November 21 and 22.
