Ongoing efforts to reach peaceful solutions to regional conflicts were in spotlight at high-level talks between Bahrain and Uzbekistan yesterday.
The importance of enhancing co-ordination and maintaining political consultations in international forums on matters of shared concern was also highlighted.
Deputy Prime Minister Shaikh Khalid bin Abdulla Al Khalifa reiterated the commitment of both countries to expand co-operation in sectors such as tourism, logistics, food security and renewable energy when he met Uzbekistan’s Foreign Minister Bakhtiyor Saidov.
The visiting minister also held wide-ranging discussions with Foreign Minister Dr Abdullatif Al Zayani, Finance and National Economy Minister Shaikh Salman bin Khalifa Al Khalifa and Industry and Commerce Minister Abdulla bin Adel Fakhro.
During his meeting, Shaikh Khalid emphasised Bahrain’s commitment to strengthening ties with Central Asian countries as an important step in diversifying its international partnerships.
He underscored that high-level engagements serve as a key driver for advancing co-operation, fostering mutual respect and shared interests, and contributing to stability and development regionally and internationally.

Mr Saidov underscored Uzbekistan’s aspiration to enhance ties with Bahrain across various sectors and wished the kingdom continued progress and prosperity.
Discussion between the two Foreign Ministers focused on means of strengthening co-ordination in political, economic, investment, tourism and cultural domains.
They also discussed the progress of agreements and memoranda of understanding signed between the two countries and explored opportunities to expand collaboration in support of mutual interests.
Following the meeting, the two countries signed an agreement on the exemption of visa requirements for holders of diplomatic passports.
During their meeting, Mr Fakhro and Mr Saidov discussed strengthening relations, particularly in trade and industry, and explored investment opportunities in promising sectors.
