His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince and Prime Minister, yesterday inaugurated the Kanoo Museum.
The inauguration took place in line with the implementation of the Royal directives of His Majesty King Hamad to preserve the historical and cultural identity of Bahrain’s buildings and cities, to launch a comprehensive plan to redevelop Manama Suq’s historical area, and to meet the infrastructure requirements needed across various historical areas.
HRH Prince Salman underscored the significance of initiatives that document the commercial heritage of Bahraini businessmen, which reflect their determination, creativity and lasting contributions to the kingdom’s comprehensive development, led by His Majesty.
HRH Prince Salman outlined the pivotal role of Bahraini business families, noting that their contributions extend beyond the economic sphere of the private sector to include social responsibility and partnership.
HRH the Crown Prince and Prime Minister highlighted the kingdom’s rich legacy and successful track record of trade and enterprise, reiterating Bahrain’s standing as a leading regional commercial hub.
Commenting on the museum, he said it highlights an important aspect of the kingdom’s economic and commercial history, while reflecting the broader development of the region, through a distinctive collection of exhibits and artefacts.
HRH the Crown Prince and Prime Minister expressed the kingdom’s pride in the Kanoo family’s contributions to the economic and social sectors, as well as their dedicated service to the nation.
HRH Prince Salman further emphasised that such efforts exemplify the vital role of the private sector in driving the kingdom’s economic growth.
He highlighted the importance of public-private partnerships in preserving the kingdom’s heritage, including Bahrain’s historic and cultural sites and cities.
In this regard, HRH the Crown Prince and Prime Minister noted that achieving sustainable economic development requires a strong and enduring partnership between the public sector and private sector institutions, to drive progress and deliver accomplishments across all levels of development, to fulfil the aspirations of Bahrain’s citizens.
Yusuf Bin Ahmed Kanoo Group chairman Fawzi Kanoo extended his gratitude to His Majesty the King for his unwavering commitment to preserving the historical and cultural identity of the kingdom’s historic buildings and cities, through Royal directives.
Mr Kanoo also expressed his gratitude for HRH Prince Salman’s inauguration of the Kanoo Museum. Mr Kanoo noted the importance of the museum in highlighting the Kanoo family business legacy in Bahrain, which spans more than 130 years.
Mr Kanoo noted that the museum is not only a cultural monument, but also a space that presents the story of the family’s history and highlights the values upon which its work is founded.
Mr Kanoo underscored the importance of the museum as a source of motivation for future generations by showcasing the accomplishments of past generations and their contributions to the kingdom’s economic development.
The Kanoo Museum is a private institution affiliated with the Yusuf Bin Ahmed Kanoo Group and is located in the company’s first-ever building, in the heart of the Old Manama Suq. The late Khalid Kanoo made significant contributions to the establishment of this project and its distinctive cultural experience, showcased through a series of museum exhibits that narrate the cultural heritage, economic history, and commercial development of Bahrain and the wider region.
Prime Minister’s Court Minister Shaikh Isa bin Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Finance and National Economy Minister Shaikh Salman bin Khalifa Al Khalifa and several senior officials were also in attendance.
